pinstripe

First off, let me just say that I am very very pleased and beaming with joy~~~~ today! I got my hair cut after almost a year (literally a year) and I love it!! Feel like, hair affects 60% of my mood for the day, the other 40% being face and of course, my clothes. Oh what a superficial world I live in. Anyhow, dug out this pair of Zara skorts today. Bought it close to two months back and haven't had a chance to really wear them yet; they are slightly too big for me despite being an XS.. I was debating whether to get them altered or not and guess what, I still haven't come to a decision yet. How typical of me. I like this pair a lot as there are not like the generic solid coloured ones, and has that extra detail of a pinstripe pattern. However, it irks me slightly that many "online shops" in Singapore are just ripping off designs from Zara/ASOS/Topshop/etc now and claiming them to be manufactured. One could say that Zara actually rips off actual designers as well but at least they do not do it so blatantly.. I mean hello, Zara "inspired" skorts? Hmmmm. The Chuck Palahniuk quote - "Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everyone I've ever known" - comes to mind, but there is definitely a difference between a combination of ideas/inspiration from various sources, and the exact replica from one source. Well I think I've said enough on this topic for now.

t-shirt

Have always wanted to experiment with the t-shirt and skirt look, so here is my take on it. I feel that tucking a shirt into a skirt (that's quite a mouthful) is sometimes slightly uncomfortable.. this may be due to the fact that I'm extremely particular about the "tuck" of the shirt - the creases cannot be too overwhelming but neither can it be too neat. Does anyone understand me?! Anyway, it is so hard to find the perfect white t-shirt as well - I am still in search of one! Funny how the things that are the most basic are always the hardest to find. Want the most amazing dress with a train and in yellow, no problem, you can find it easily, but want a white t-shirt with the perfect slouch and cut? Well, good luck with that. And good luck to me as I continue my hunt for THE t-shirt.

PS, I know that whenever I'm wearing something cobalt, I will definitely match it with white. Well what can I say, it's like the holy grail of matching colours.

vest

Have always been looking for THE vest, which, in my opinion, must be oversized and of that perfect, pristine white, with the right flow down the front and lapels. This one hits nearly all the sweet spots. I wanted to actually go for that "all white errthang" look but I couldn't find a top and bottom with the same white shade... Yes, white has different shades and the "whiteness" of each piece differs! I am super obsessive over stupid details like that. Wearing this vest reminds me of Bright Eyes' Amy In The White Coat... Such a heartbreaking and great song. In love with my metallic-y coloured loafers as well! It's just right and not overly shiny. I am always afraid of looking like an alien with bright shiny feet. Well, isn't everyone?

PS, Am very pleased with this batch of photos (as can be evidenced by the larger than usual amount of photos in this post) - especially love the ones against the steel/metal wall. Somehow great architecture always makes for more interesting photos; the lines somehow give the photo a more futuristic touch. However, natural scenery is as breathtaking as well, if one can find those views, that is.

night

Attended the annual F1 Singapore Grand Prix yesterday! Wanted to wear something more festival-y but eh. The weather here really prevents me from functioning properly, I was a hot mess yesterday sweating all over the place. Nevertheless, I had a good time. Both my top and shorts were lightweight enough for the 32 degree Celsius weather. (Yes, even at night. RIDICULOUS.) I love these shoes as it's got that little something extra to perk up an otherwise boring outfit. A con is that it's pretty heavy though, so I felt that my legs were practically detached from my body while walking. I may or may not be exaggerating.

PS, taking pictures at night is supremely difficult - or I am just too lousy to know the correct settings. Practice makes perfect I guess, but I will always prefer taking pictures in the day. Natural sunlight is the best kind of light!

réalisateur

This is the time of the year where not only fashion week is taking place, but also various film festivals. Not to mention Oscar ~season - please roll out all the bait-worthy films! However I am really looking forward to this film.. it looks amazing. Somehow French films just seem more romantic and perfect (this is pure stereotyping, I know I know. But everyone thinks Paris is the city of love and romance and there must be at least a grain of truth in that). The music in French films is just astounding as well, I have discovered so much new and good music from various films. Really looking forward to this. Doubt that it will screen in Singapore though... well there is the internet for that.

Blue Is The Warmest Colour

I really think that the essence of a good film is in the music though. No matter how amazing a film is, without music it just falls terribly flat. Amazing music by Beach House in the trailer;

Take Care by Beach House

Obligatory shout out to one of my favourite French films, albeit from a Canadian director. But no one's complaining.

Laurence Anyways

I have discovered a slew of awesome music just from this trailer alone. Xavier Dolan is so talented (pardon my gushing for a moment) and he is only 24?! My rather recent love for electronic music probably stems from watching his movies.
